Lucy has been one of my wife's nurses. She has truly been much more than that. A friend, an advisor, counselor, supporter, encourager, the list can go on and on. I am a man of few words but I had to express my utmost respect for Lucy. She has always been beyond amazing. My family and I have had a wonderful time, despite the circumstances, all because of the great nursing staff and Lucy has been the best by far. She goes above and beyond.

Our patient is developmentally delayed and Lucy provided wonderful care and found creative ways to get him to take meds while he was here. Patient was having a hard time taking his medicine orally. Lucy was able to get him to take it without any fuss. He simply adores her. She has a terrific way with people.
Lucy writes: "When I got report in the morning his mom had to leave to take care of the other kids. When we went in he was upset that he was alone and didn't have company. After I got him set up in the chair and watching his favorite cartoons, I ordered him some pancakes. The night shift had trouble getting him to take the medications in anything; they tried juice, pudding, and applesauce. I thought mixed with the maple syrup the taste would be less noticeable. He took his morning medication no problem and enjoyed chatting with me about the Ninja Turtles. Since he mentioned that he was worried about being alone and just wanted some company, I checked on him frequently and spent any extra time I had playing. We called to have the therapy dogs come to see him (which he talked about for the rest of the day), and volunteer services to bring him coloring books, pages and crayons. We invented a game in the afternoon for his next dose of medication where we set up the room like a carnival with a balloon punching game and sips of a smoothie with hidden meds. We also got him some scrubs to wear since his pajama pants were wet, and even gave him a stethoscope to wear. Everyone that went in the room from there on out referred to him as Doctor which he enjoyed immensely. He loved being dressed up so much like a doctor pretending to check up on his patients, he even handed out his own balloons to another kid to make them feel better."
