Denise cared for my grandma when she had a stroke. Granny had dementia, which was made worse by her fear and the new environment, her confusion, and not wanting to be in the hospital. Denise showed such kindness, personal attention, professionalism, and skill in handling her care, that I was deeply impressed. She was so attuned to our circumstances, that it felt like we were one of only a few families there, though she had many other patients to care for. She suggested that we contact her directly with our concerns, and called me to suggest that I bring my Gran her pajamas. Just that little kindness helped my grandma to settle down and sleep peacefully for the night. I also witnessed her de-escalate a situation with another patient's irate family member with such skill that the person was thanking her and apologizing for their overreaction! I told Denise, "you have definitely found your calling!" She just smiled a huge smile and said, "I love it!" What a great attitude and what an asset for your department. She is such a treasure, I could not let the chance go by to recognize her!
