When the Vascular service was in need of a zone coordinator, Brooke stepped up to the plate. As our immediate supervisor, she treats us as partners and not subordinates. She exudes confidence while remaining approachable, creating a culture of mutual respect. She values our worth. She understands the work that we do, as she was once in our shoes. She is hands-on when there is a need. She is an effective communicator while maintaining a positive attitude. Whether communicating expectations, practice changes and/or constructive feedback, she is always generous in thanking us for what we do. She is an exemplary leader. Her trust and openness is the icing on the cake. In turn, we are compassionate yet productive, active in problem-solving while anticipating the needs and advocating for our patients and their families. We are nonjudgmental and sympathetic to our patient's surgical and hospital experience. Brooke's leadership style goes a long way towards improving patient care as she brings out the best in us.
