My 25 year old special needs daughter was very ill. Every time Cindy was on call she would come in and talk directly to my daughter. That is rare. You see my daughter is blind and functions at a 2 year old level. She is also orally defensive. Cindy treated our whole family as if we were her family. She somehow calmly talked to my daughter and got her to open her mouth to take an oral temp. You may not think that's impressive but we cried. No one has ever been able to do that in her entire life. Her calmness and frankness were so appreciated. Dealing with a typical patient is hard enough. Someone with special needs takes a very special person. I even have a picture of this. That's how wonderful that act was. It was literally life changing.
