Yaxian Y Bao's devotion and commitment to patient care is demonstrated not only by the excellent care she delivers to her patients in ICU but by her involvement and leadership with the Hospital CAUTI and HAP project. She has become not only the unit champion for ICU but has branched out and actually rounds on all patients with Foley catheters, and the need for Incentive Spirometry when she is performing the RRT role.

When asked why she feels what she does is important, Yaxian stated that her job is to know not only how to help and take care of our patients but to also ensure that no harm comes to them while under our care, that includes doing all we can to prevent infection.

When rounding on patients Yaxian always engages both patients and families and takes the time to teach and explain the importance of what we (RNs) do and why we do it.

Yaxian puts the patient first and is a true patient advocate.
