This letter is to inform you of an exceptional employee at the Asheville GCVAMC ENT Clinic. I don't know her official job title, but I know her as Annette Norton, ENT Nurse. I had a routine scheduled appointment at the ENT clinic that turned into anything but routine. I was called from the ENT waiting room by Ms. Norton to check my vitals and when she checked my pulse rate it was really high and staying up. Ms. Norton went into action and said she needed to speak to the ENT doctor. It was what seemed less than a minute later that Ms. Norton appeared with a wheelchair and she personally pushed me in the wheelchair to the ER and believe me she got me to the ER fast! She must have called the ER as they seemed to be expecting me and I was immediately seen and later that same day was placed in the hospital for the next 5 days for A-Fib. I had never been told or even suspected that I had A-Fib up until this time, I didn't even know what A Fib was. I have been a patient twice now and CGVAMC and once at a local hospital in my hometown in SC for my A-Fib since Ms. Norton went immediately into action and took me straight to the ER. Ms. Norton, in all probability, saved my life and I will always remember and appreciate her quick thinking and action. This lady went well above and beyond anything I have ever encountered at any VA and my wife and I can never thank her enough.
The doctors are still working on getting my heart meds and blood thinner adjusted, but thanks to Ms. Norton, I stand a good chance of getting my A-Fib under control.
