Playing outside with fresh snow falling is arguably one of best things in the world to an eight-year-old boy, but it's not likely to happen if he'sin the hospital - unless he's lucky enough to have Kristin Smith, RN, on his care team!
One weekend, Kristin brought in toys and games for this patient. His look of joy was priceless when he saw them. Then, Kristin went above and beyond when she brought in snow clothes and boots for the child to wear so she could take him outside for some fun and fresh air during asnowstorm.
We watched them play from the playroom window on the unit and marveled at Kristin's compassion and obviously huge heart. She definitely went out of her way to make the patient feel special and loved.
