My mother suffers from Alzheimer's and dementia, Alva Zook took excellent care of her. My mother can be a very challenging patient. Alva would sit at her bedside and explain everything to her until she was happy with her care. On numerous occasions, my mother would become demanding, confused, and anxious. Alva would hold her hand and speak with her in a calm voice and be able to calm her and give her reassurance that everything was going to be alright. Alva always had a smile on her face. She is truly a valuable asset to your unit and a great nursing role model. She made my mother feel like she was the most important patient on the unit and gave her all the time she needed to understand her care. She is truly worthy of this award!
