Amy Smith was one of the most special nurses that I have ever come across. My mom was in NCCU and Amy was one of her nurses. Amy was there to make her feel comfortable. Amy treated my mom more like a friend and not a patient. She wasn't just another person to Amy. The last day before my mom opened her eyes my mom looked down and upset; Amy asked my mom what was wrong and my mom said that she was sad and scared. Amy asked her why and she didn't know why.
Amy told her that she didn't need to be scared that she was her friend and that her family was there with her too. Amy just made our family feel like we just weren't another patient's family and my mom wasn't just another patient. We thought for sure that Amy had been a nurse for a few years, but she was a newer nurse just out of nursing school and had just been in the department for a few months. She was a very good nurse, just wish more nurses were like her. I couldn't ever thank her enough for the care she gave mom it meant the world to me. Thank you, Amy, again for all the things you did for us!
