My husband and I first met Courtney during the labor and delivery class several months before our sweet baby boy arrived. We loved her immediately. She is an excellent educator and did a fantastic job with the course. When the big day finally arrived we were beyond thrilled to find out that she would be one of our nurses! And thank goodness she was our nurse because we needed her to help get us through that night. My labor had been long. For two hours I pushed with Courtney and the nursing staff coaching me, encouraging me and encouraging my husband. We tried, I was sore, I was scared and when the health care team and I decided a C-section would be what was best for baby and me, I was overtaken with emotion. I was so disappointed that I was unable to deliver up to this point and I was terrified. Courtney took my hand, wiped away my tears and reminded me that even though things were not working out the way we had hoped, the end goal was still the same: to deliver our sweet baby boy as safely as possible. She showed me and my husband compassion on a level that I have not experienced before. I will be eternally grateful for the care I received from Courtney and the entire labor and delivery staff. And, as a nurse myself, I will remember the compassion Courtney showed me when I was patient and be a more compassionate nurse in my own practice. Being under her care has made me a better nurse; and thanks to Courtney and the staff at Bothwell, now I also get to enjoy my most favorite life role yet: being a MOMMY!
