The first night I stayed at Centennial Baylor Scott and White was right after my scheduled C-section with my son. After my delivery, my baby boy had to go to the NICU straight away because he had fluid in his lungs. The first night sleeping in my room without my son was tough. I knew he was getting the best care possible, but I missed him.
When I met Nurse Minh, she was so kind; she introduced herself as the nurse who would be there overnight and instantly, she made me feel taken care of. Minh knew that I was trying to make sure my milk came in successfully even though my son was in the NICU and I could not breastfeed him. I set my alarm for every three hours that first night and pumped and every 3 hours Minh would return and make sure that I was okay. She helped me collect the colostrum in syringes after I was done pumping and made sure that they were taken down to my son in the NICU after each pumping session. She then washed and cleaned my pump for me. Her commitment to my care and comfort went beyond anything I was expecting.
I am so grateful that Minh was there my first night in the hospital, she made me feel taken care of and her encouragement and dedication made me feel stronger in a time where I felt very weak both mentally and physically. I am so grateful for her dedication and I hope that she sees this and knows that I will remember her kindness always.
