My mom was hospitalized at Baptist Collierville for 2 weeks due to a ruptured appendix and complications.
Mom loved Comfort for her gentle, caring, compassionate way by carrying on a conversation with her while placing an additional pillow on a chair to help her sit comfortably. Although her shift ended at 7:00 am, Comfort continued on with getting and changing Mom's gown, sheet, blanket, and pillowcases as Comfort noticed a soiled gown and linen. She took the initiative to do this rather than being asked.
One day, Comfort came to my mom's rescue to place a new IV with ease and no pain, after someone else attempted 3 times. When the NG tube did not pump properly, Comfort did her best to test different ways and even changed equipment. She consulted her colleague and her colleague confirmed what Comfort did was correct. During her attempt to fix the issue, Comfort explained to me what the machine should do, what green, yellow and red indicators mean. While waiting for technical support, she extracted fluid manually. She was Mom's assigned nurse for more than 3 nights, and Mom loved her!
Even though Mom speaks broken English, she was impressed by the dedication and respect of Comfort. She demonstrated care and compassion even when a family member was not around.
