My daughter (3) was taken to AMC-Grafton emergency following an unresponsive episode and subsequent vomiting all while in the waiting room. We, as parents, were scared and confused. Kim saw us and immediately wrapped us in her arms and managed to quickly find us a room. Her triage and calmness despite my panic was undeniably a gift from God. She was able to connect to my sweet daughter when she began to panic offering her a teddy bear that she held tightly onto throughout this journey. Kim saw us through all the way to our hospital transport to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. She even stayed past her shift hours to ensure our daughter was going to be ok. She knew her experience with IV placement was not perfect and was not embarrassed to ask another staff member for assistance. I know she relayed every single one of my concerns to the ED doctor because he would come back to the room and immediately answer the questions that I presented to her.
I want to recognize Kim for going above and beyond, for helping not only my husband and myself find calmness amidst the crazy, but for comforting my baby girl during a frightening time. She was kind, loving, generous, and truly compassionate. She was not afraid to admit that she didn't have all the answers but would do whatever it took to make sure our daughter received the care she needed. I believe that Kim possesses all of the qualities that every nurse should have. It truly made our experience much less scary. Thank you to all of the staff at Grafton, but especially Kim!
