The activities that Susan does inside and outside of the hospital are commendable and remarkable. She is appreciated and has played an important role in our lives and the hospital. She has mentored and supported many nurses and managers to realize their dreams. She encourages us to grow every day and strives for the best in all her team members. She visits her brother at Misericordia constantly and sends pictures of them laughing and smiling.
Every summer, she volunteers at Royal Family Kids Academy, which creates positive, life-changing moments for children who have been victims of neglect, abuse, and abandonment. She provides ongoing support for these children. Susan co-led a successful response to a funding opportunity, and secured $1.1 million to Victims of Crime Act and established the Advocate Trauma Recovery Center. This center now provides comprehensive mental health support and social services to many types of violent crime.
Once Susan finishes a project, she already has another one in the works started. She submitted a proposal and received a grant to open an Opioid Use Disorder clinic at Christ Hospital. She helped steer the way for the Behavioral Response Team throughout Advocate. Susan is also part of the Human Trafficking team at Christ. Susan has purchased clothes for discharged patients, even suitcases. She even wrapped these presents as a pretend birthday. She is constantly working on new projects; she is a great resource for all areas of the hospital. She is an inspiration, a great mentor, and an amazing person. We are proud to work alongside her.
