Heather goes above and beyond for her patients and coworkers. When she is charge, she makes sure everyone has lunch before she goes, she's always asking if anyone needs help and she always checks with the patients. She is one of the best and should be recognized for it. She is a Great charge nurse and a great nurse. Everyone loves her. She always goes above and beyond.

Heather Urquhart is the definition of what a nurse should be. She goes above and beyond for her patients and the staff around her. I only hope to become half the nurse she is.
***
Heather often is the charge nurse in day surgery and she does the job so well. She comes in early to make assignments, and she rarely leaves on time, as she is too busy helping others. She will never eat lunch until her staff has eaten, and she often picks up patients even when she is in charge in order to help out the other nurses. You will never see her sitting still. Still, she does not complain. If there is ever anything that needs to be done Heather is on it. She is always caring to patients and is amazing at keeping them calm in stressful situations. Heather is a DAISY Nurse because she is an amazing example of everything that a nurse should be. Her caring spirit, work ethic, and knowledge are all something to look up to.
***
Heather is a gift to surgical services. She devotes herself to her coworkers and patients day in and day out without hesitation. Heather is a kind and compassionate leader. Many days her charge nurse role requires her to be pulled in several directions and she never skips a beat. The way she carries herself and handles anything that comes her way is admirable. You can find Heather here first in the morning, last in the evening and always last to lunch while still giving 100% without a complaint. She is an amazing teacher who will jump in and help anyone in any way she can to make the unit flow smoothly. Best patient care is always her focus. Heather makes working on SDS and PACU a pleasure.
***
Heather is a champion of teamwork. She effortlessly provides help to all the nurses she works with and the patients as well. While showing empathy, Heather will get a charger for a family member's cell phone, that cup of tea for an anxious family member, or a moment of encouragement to a fellow RN who is having a rough day. She does this with a smile on her face. She's the nurse who follows through and her patients benefit from quality nursing care.
***
Heather is an exceptional team player, go-to person, and a hard worker. She is very compassionate and is always going beyond her duties.
***
Heather is an excellent charge nurse! She is always on the move making sure that her staff is well supported. She makes sure everyone gets their breaks. She is always asking and offering support to the nurses. Always smiley, nothing is ever a bother. So incredibly helpful! Always goes above and beyond.

Heather is the true definition of a DAISY Nurse. She is kind and gentle. Heather will advocate for her patients in a way that makes everybody want to help. She will take on any task no matter the size if it means her patients will get the best care. She will also advocate for the staff. I always feel like I am in good hands when she is in charge. I know if she is working, she will have my back. She has a very gentle way about her. Heather is a charge nurse in day surgery. On days that she is in charge, the flow of the department is peaceful and flows efficiently. My charts are always organized, and any missing pieces have been filled. Whenever I call Heather for help, she is more than happy to respond. She never gets flustered or overwhelmed no matter how busy it is or how much is going on. Heather always stays late and works well above her hours just to make sure that all of us get our lunch breaks and that we get to go home on time. She always makes the ultimate sacrifice for the staff.
***
Heather goes well beyond the role of charge nurse every day to make sure everyone is taken care of, patients and staff. She comes in early stays late, goes without breaks, to make sure the unit is running smoothly. She is always ready to help staff with anything. She listens and gives compassionate care. She is the first to volunteer for whatever is needed on the unit. She gives you a smile and a "How are things going?" and you know she really means it. If Heather was not here, SDS/PACU would be a less efficient, less caring, less happy place to work or come in as a patient. I feel Heather embodies the mission of Maine General in all she does and is a true DAISY Nurse.
***
Heather is such an amazing member of the SDS/PACU team. She is thoughtful when making the assignment in the morning and really pays attention to acuity, skill level and times. She is always willing to pitch in and help. Heather takes great care of her patients as well as "her staff", always checking in on everyone and making sure we get our breaks, even if it means she misses hers. She is organized and beyond knowledgeable about the policies, procedures and "ways" of the department. When she is in charge, any "issue or problem" can be tackled because you know you have her support. I have no say in increasing her "hazard pay" for all that she does for this department but what I can do is help to have her recognized for all of her hard work. We couldn't do it without her.

I have worked with Heather Urquhart for several years. She is compassionate and caring for our patients and our other nurses and staff. She is bright, with great common sense, and her management skills are exceptional. We really do have an amazing staff in PACU and SDS but Heather is the best of the best. I would love for her to be recognized for her contribution to this department.
