Kim has been recognized by her patients for going above and beyond her duty. Her nursing care is beyond compare. As a Charge Nurse on day shift, I always round on our patients and every time I round on her patients, they recognize her. Most of the comments I get from them include:
"Kim is very caring. Her nursing care is comforting. She always checks on her patients to make sure that they are okay. She works like Florence Nightingale."
A few months ago, there was a patient on comfort care and Kim was her night shift nurse. Her daughters, who happen to be a Case Manager at Kaiser and a State Licensing agent for assisted living, were so thankful to Kim. They said that Kim kept them informed, she explained the dying process, she gave emotional support and was very gentle to their dying mother.
The patient died in the early morning of Mother's Day. Both daughters were very upset and sad, but Kim made them feel better. I met with one of the daughters again last month and she begged me to recognize Kim for her caring, personally. She said the last hours of their Mother's life were very peaceful.
