While the world is in chaos and showing fright from the coronavirus, we had a warrior of a nurse step up and volunteer to work the COVID-19 clinic at the main campus. Oco demonstrated strength, courage, devotion, and professionalism while being the ONLY nurse to work at this clinic. She volunteered for this position prior to drive-thru clinics, tents, or standardized workflows. She volunteered in a time of uncertainty for this position on behalf of our community, providers, patients, fellow nurses, and support staff.
She exemplifies teamwork by always going the extra mile. That extra mile this week has been decreasing healthcare workers' exposure, showing each and every patient kindness and compassion while providing excellent care and service while assessing symptoms. She needs to be recognized for mastering the art and science of nursing. She provided reassurance with a gentle touch and a smile on her face to our members during a time of uncertainty. It is a pleasure to work with Oco. I admire her clinical judgment and natural compassion for all our patients and the community. Thank you, Oco, for keeping our community safe.
