My father passed away on Monday. The love and care he received at Mercy Joplin were phenomenal! While my father was in the ICU, two particular nurses took care of him. His daytime nurse was Arin and his night nurse was Sean.
As my father became deathly sick, both Arin and Sean discussed the best care for my father. I could see and hear the love and compassion these two nurses had for their patients. Never before had I had this experience. Even when Arin's shift was over, she remained with Sean and made sure he knew all about my dad and his needs. She didn't have to worry because Sean was on it. I told Sean that I was scared that my dad was suffering, and I wondered if I made the right choice to have him placed on hospice care. Sean and Arin both reassured me that it was for the best.
They both were not just a comfort to my dad; they were a huge comfort to my sister and me as well. Sean told me he would come in around the clock to make sure my dad was given pain medicines and anything else he needed. True to his word, Sean constantly checked on my dad and made sure he was in the most comfortable state he could be. Sean was by our side as my dad passed from this life into Heaven. There are no words that can express everything these nurses did for my dad and our family. They went above and beyond what they had to do as a nurse.
