I received a phone call from a family member of a patient who was wanting to bring a thank you card to Terri. The family member told me the following story of how Terri went above and beyond while caring for their family member who was dying from cancer. Terri had been the patient's nurse for several days. One day while Terri was in the room, the patient told Terri that she smelled wonderful and asked what she was wearing. Terri stated that it was an essential oil. The patient stated that just the smell made her feel more comfortable and relaxed. The patient's sister overheard this and asked Terri where she got it so that she could get some for her. Terri gave her all the information and the sister quickly got to looking online. A couple of hours later, Terri was back in the room when the sister told the patient that she had found it and ordered it for her and that it would be delivered in 2 days. The patient started crying and stated that she didn't think she would be alive to see it delivered. Terri left the room in tears but remembered that she had brought the essential oil with her to work that morning. Terri got the bottle from her purse and gave it to the patient. Over the next 24 hours, the family stated that the patient rubbed a little on herself every couple of hours and even had the family put some in the water for her bed bath. The family stated they could tell how it helped relax her. She passed away peacefully shortly after. The family stated that there was no way to fully thank Terri for what she did for their loved one.
