Wow, what and where do I begin? My husband had his fourth knee surgery in August; all four here at TOH. We have had some past infections, high blood pressure, muscle spasm, I could go on and on to name the side effects of the surgeries. I say this to let you know that my husband and I were very worried about the "aftermath" of the fourth surgery. Call it a minor "PTSD" from previous surgeries. Everyone here at TOH handled everything as a professional, but God had a few side effects that my husband experienced that caused him so much pain and discomfort previously.
Currently, the surgery went great and our doctor was prepared for the side effects before they occurred. Our nerves were shot with fear prior to the surgery.
Cory, Cory, Cory! Wow, he was our nurse and the first thing he said to me was, "Welcome to Texas Orthopedic Hospital. I'm sorry that your loved one has had surgery, but I hope that I can help his stay to be as pleasant as possible." He introduced himself and he began to explain to the other nurse all about my husband's past misfortune of muscle spasm, etc. He was already gaining my trust in being knowledgeable of past surgeries.
He is so professional at what he does but yet was so compassionate towards the patient's pain. Cory would explain everything he did to us. He said it was important for the patient to be aware of his medical care. He has the heart of gold and the patience of Jobe. He treated my husband as well as I would imagine he would have treated his own parents! Such a respectful young man. He sets the bar high to what a nurse should be. Thanks for the great experience, Cory!
