My boyfriend was admitted to Stormont Vail Health four times in five weeks, all through the ER. The nursing care provided to him was exceptional. Alicia was one of the outstanding staff members. My boyfriend was disoriented and confused, due to elevated ammonia levels. I don't think he was a problem patient, but at times he was a challenge. She had a way of handling him without him realizing it. She was able to get him to take meds he didn't really want to take. Not only was she attentive, but she was also always paying attention to him. She was kind and considerate to me and other family members. One instance that will forever mean so much to me was her conversation with me after I had advocated on my boyfriend's behalf, that he not be discharged by the hospitalist on the day after he was admitted. I apologized for the momentary 'freak out' and Alicia told me I had not [freaked out]. Later that day or the next, she shared a special moment with my boyfriend and me that left us all a little teary. The nursing staff is a 24 hour a day lifeline to patients and their families. It's one of the things that sets Stormont apart. Thank you!!
