Paulette has been nominated several times for DAISY Awards because of the exceptional care that she provides her patients. She was chosen as our Fall 2019 Honoree because of a story that one of her patients shared with us. Her patient was admitted for endocarditis and long-term antibiotics as a result of IV drug use. She shared with us that typically in health care settings she feels judged, ignored, and overlooked. She recognized that her choices have put her in this scenario but explained that "Paulette took time from her day to take me on walks, listen to me, check on me, make me laugh, and became my biggest cheerleader and friend.
If it wasn't for this wonderful woman, I would have left AMA and A) paralyzed, B) death were only things that would have me running away.
So, this lady truly saved my life, and I owe her big. Love you Paulette and thank you from the bottom of my heart".
Paulette showed the true heart of nursing, we are not here to judge, but we are here to heal through compassion and caring. We are very proud of Paulette!
