Dr. F performed a cardio ablation on me and after the procedure, I was moved to the SICU on the second floor. My attending nurse, Gloria, worked the night shift on that day. When she came on shift, she told me she was there for anything that I needed. She was friendly and put me somewhat at ease, relieving some of the stress I was experiencing.
Around 7 PM she checked on my legs and discovered that my left leg was swollen much more than my right leg. She contacted the doctor who ordered an ultrasound and a device was attached to my leg to apply pressure. Gloria eased my mind by talking to me and explaining what was happening. Gloria constantly checked on me and at one point was required to apply constant pressure on my leg for several minutes to stop the internal bleeding in my leg. During this time, she helped me stay calm by carrying on a conversation about things that we had in common and my family. The entire staff was good during my stay, especially Gloria. She was kind yet firm with me. I can really tell that she loves her job. She is an to be an excellent nurse and by far the best nurse I have ever had. Thank you, Gloria.
