Sawyer stands out in her compassion and her skill to be a good listener and advocate the best care for her patients. She stood out for her ready smile and eagerness to do all she can to offer her patients the best care. She makes Sanford look good!
M had been in high-pain and was super uncomfortable the night before and throughout the day. He repeatedly voiced the need to urinate after trying to accomplish it himself and was unable to because of his surgery slowing down his bladder. Sawyer came into the evening shift and immediately began to try to resolve his pain and discomfort.
When she drained his bladder, it was over 1400! No wonder he felt so awful! Sawyer made sure he had regular bladder scans. She made sure he did not retain excess urine again. Plus, she gave his pain medicine on a timed schedule through the night and it was the first night his pain was managed enough to sleep. The next day was game-changing in his recovery. That rest he got gave him the energy to get up and he made big progress from that day onward. Sawyer stepped up and provided extraordinary care. I've watched her in the hallway with other patients as I have passed her. She displays this same caring spirit to every patient. She is amazing.
