David stands out as an extraordinary nurse for many reasons. He was extremely attentive to me as I coped with the effects of major abdominal surgery. He was even attentive to my husband, son, and daughter, remembering their names.
David knew I was and would continue to have a slow, difficult recovery. I believe for this reason he shared his own story of survival and coming back from a serious medical condition. It gave me hope and inspired me to keep fighting. David's presence in my room was always welcomed by my entire family. David was friendly, upbeat, and always had a smile on his face. His expertise in his field was evident as he tended to me and the myriad of bags, pouches, and tubes hanging on the IV stand and going into my arms. We knew David was well thought of for his expertise and exceptional memory when other nurses came into my room to seek his advice.
David was not only concerned about me while I was a patient, but he also made it a point to counsel me for when I was no longer in the hospital, stressing how important I don't let my weight drop below 125 pounds. I still have a way to go to reach 125, but when I do, I'll remember David's advice. I am thankful and honored David was a part of my care team.
