Caleb is relatively new to our organization and is working hard to provide supportive care to a very diverse patient population. He has worked hard to become an inpatient nurse. Recently, he has been found going above and beyond to communicate and collaborate with providers and the nursing team. Two specific examples stand out. A patient took the time to shout out Caleb in the Press Ganey survey writing "I really appreciate that Caleb went to CVS to get flavoring for a colonoscopy prep liquid when none was on hand in the hospital."
This patient had an extended stay and was unable to get his colonoscopy late on a Friday and had to stay the weekend. Caleb cared for the patient on a Sunday evening and took the time with a full patient assignment to go to CVS and get some flavoring for the patient's procedure prep. Not only was stellar care provided, but the patient was able to complete the prep and have his diagnostic testing the next morning. If Caleb didn't go out of the way to ensure the patient could manage drinking all the colorless flavorless prep (3 to 4 liters worth) we could not have ensured the prep was done well, and if the prep wasn't completed the patient would have had an even longer stay.
Just last week another family member sent an email stating that their mother in law had been a patient since Wednesday for what they thought was a cardiac event. The writer expressed it was a very scary time for the whole family. Caleb was fantastic and went out of the way to always make sure the patient was comfortable. He was extremely patient and answered all of her questions. Per the family, he was very knowledgeable, personable, courteous, professional and most importantly kind. The family member stated "I think that he should be recognized for what a great employee he is!!! More hospitals need nurses like this. We are so grateful to him. You should be so happy to have such great staff at Southern New Hampshire. Due to staff like him, we would highly recommend SNH Hospital to others!"
