Michael has always been professional with our family during taking care of my husband on the V-2 spinal cord. From day one, Michael has always greeted us with a smile and asks, "How are you doing?" He would tell us "Let me explain what the day has been like for your husband." Michael would explain the medical terms for what was done for that time of meds- caregiving etc., he would ask if there were any questions or "Let me show you his meds given, feeding process," "Let me call the doctor," etc.
Michael has a gift of comfort for the patients and family. Whatever needs that need to be met. He is passionate about his career in nursing and his own family. When I have been overwhelmed, Michael has empathy and tells me everything is going to be ok. "We (staff) are here for you and the patients." I trust him that he will tell us the truth. When he talks to me, he looks me in my eyes. I have learned things that I never even thought about. I love his smiles and how he talks in a soft voice. He not only hears me, but he listens. How else could he answer the question? My husband says that he likes Michael because he listens; if he doesn't know about something Michael will find the answer. Michael is a giver.
