Jade has gone above and beyond to ensure a patient well known to her, had his emotional and spiritual needs met, all while on her day off. She helped social work arrange care for him (patient is non-verbal and communication needs are very specific). The patient's mother recently passed away and happened to be his primary caregiver. Since then, his care has not been consistent. Jade left her number and said she could be available anytime to help with communication. The patient expressed concerns that he was not being included in the decision making process regarding his care. Jade ensured that his concerns regarding this were met. She even took some of his clothes home to be washed. Acts like these are examples of how a nurse demonstrates compassionate care because she's doing all of this just because she cares.
