A few months ago, April was taking care of a patient whose mother was visiting and had trouble ambulating. When the patient was leaving, April noticed the difficulty the patient's mother was having so she offered to escort the visitor down to her car via a wheelchair. The visitor accepted and April did just that! Job well done? Yes, but it didn't stop there!
It was a few days later when it was brought to my attention that on a social media site, the patient commented on how great our nursing staff was during her stay and made particular mention of April's act of kindness toward her mother. This is how April exceeded this patient's expectation, not by taking exceptional care of her, but by taking care of a patient's family member!
