Ken is a surgical neuro nurse known by his coworkers for his infectious laughter. "Whenever I walk the halls and I hear a family member or patient laughing, I always know that Ken is in the room," said Selin Mirzaeian, MSN, RN, nursing manager. "He has the biggest heart and is very deserving of this prestigious recognition."
One patient's granddaughter recently nominated Ken for the DAISY award. She wrote, "Ken came to the Emergency Department to transport my grandmother to her room. From the moment we met him, he made us feel at ease. His contagious smile and laugh really made a difficult experience easier," she said. "I was explaining to a coworker about our great experience at St. Jude and told her about the wonderful nurse we had. She asked me if, by any chance, the nurse's name was Ken. Surprised, I told her it was. Ken had helped the coworker's mother the month before after she was recovering from a double mastectomy. For Ken, nursing is much more than a job, it is his calling. He exemplifies excellence and dignity by the way he treats his patients with such excellent and compassionate care."
