We had a patient scheduled for imaging who had recently undergone a colostomy procedure at Covenant. While at our facility, she experienced some problems associated with her ostomy/bag. Being an outpatient imaging facility, we do not have supplies on hand to facilitate ostomy emergencies. Because the patient had recently undergone this surgical procedure, she knew the name of her ostomy specialist at Covenant and even had this woman's contact information. Martina is the ostomy specialist for Covenant. After one short phone call, Martina graciously dropped everything she was doing at Covenant, rounded up the supplies that were needed, and came to CDI to help her former patient.
We want to express our gratitude for Martina and her positive approach to her job not only from my CDI staff but more importantly, for the patient. Martina jumped right in and made adjustments and changes to the ostomy area and basically made a potentially miserable situation into a manageable one. The patient not only thanked my staff profusely for their professionalism, patience, and compassion, but also commended Martina on her patient skills, knowledge, and compassion. We want to extend our warmest appreciation to Martina who went way beyond the call of duty. Martina is definitely a keeper!
