Admittedly, I did not like Marci at first because she was matter-of-fact and bold. Over the next 4 days I was to spend in the hospital, it is something I have come to love! She always knew how to make me crack a smile when I tried so hard not to and shared stories that brightened my evening.
I had ordered pasta on Thanksgiving and being bold she called me out on it. I explained that it just didn't feel like Thanksgiving to me especially since there was no pumpkin pie. That THAT is what Thanksgiving was all about! Later that evening, Marci came in with a whole pumpkin pie for myself and my guests! Still having guests the following evening, she brought in 2 large pizzas for us to split! She spoke with my guests and made them feel comfortable. She made me feel comfortable. She has cheered me up when I have been sad and crying. She has joined in on some laughs and she gave back what I dished out when I have been angry and lashing out.
Marci has remained patient with me and understanding. She loves her job and it shows! She enjoys working with patients and taking that extra step to really make us feel as at home as possible. No one likes staying in the hospital and nights are the worst! They are dark and lonely and sometimes scary. But if hospitals had more Marci's, people would feel more at ease and comfortable during their stay!
I can say confidently that Marci is by far the best nurse I have ever encountered in my entire life, and I work in the medical field, too! Keep up the good work Marci, and I will keep you posted on my progress!
