Recently a patient's family member was very concerned with directions to get themselves home due to her husband (the patient) being the driver/navigator in the family. The family member approached the desk to ask for help in ordering an Uber. She thought they could follow the Uber home in their own vehicle. Our staff explained to her that this is not how Uber worked and offered to get her a taxi home, but she insisted on taking her own car. Kim Olsson, RN overheard the conversation and took it upon herself to find out where this family member lived. She told her she lived in the same area and that she would help her find her car and follow her to a point she felt comfortable navigating from. Kim met her in the parking lot and successfully navigated her home. Kim went over and above (after hours, off the clock) to ensure a family member got home safely to put both the family member and the patient's mind at ease. This is a true humanitarian act and deserves to be recognized. We are lucky to have her as one of our teammates!
