Gina is a float nurse who floats all over the organization providing care to a vast array of patients with varying disease processes and ailments. While she always does her best to give excellent patient care, she also has a heart of gold and compassion beyond measure.
While working on the first below freezing temperature day here in Charleston, she was assigned a homeless patient who was being discharged that day. Being the extremely kind and compassionate person she is, Gina went above and beyond and was very concerned that he would be discharged on such a cold day without adequate clothing. Although he was being discharged to a warm shelter, she was concerned about his transit to that shelter as well. She took the time and thought to call her husband and have him bring in clothes and a backpack so he would not be cold upon his discharge. She often goes above and beyond with the "little things" that make such a huge, touching impact on our patients.
