During my father's 5 day stay in the MICU, Josh was his daytime nurse. After just a couple of days, I could tell that Josh was different. He paid extra special care to my father's needs. He was understanding and would take time to communicate to the family. Josh would make recommendations to make Dad more comfortable and to make an unpleasant hospital stay more tolerable. For example, Dad had not eaten in days and Josh offered up an Ensure/Glucerna shake. He put a little ice cream in it to make it taste better. Josh would go out of his way to suggest foods that Dad could eat that wouldn't cause him to choke. Dad had to lay flat on his back and was not allowed to move his legs, so eating something easy that he wouldn't choke on was very important.
When it was time for Dad to take his meds, Josh would sit him up as much as he could and give them to him one at a time. The other nurses, also nice, were not that considerate and they would just put all of the pills in his mouth at once causing him to choke. Josh took the time to get to know us and let us know him. He is very personal and professional. We appreciate his caring and concern for my dad.
