Serena Culler is one of the most thoughtful and humble nurses I have had the pleasure of working with. There are so many times that Serena put patient's needs ahead of everything else but let me share just a few examples with you.

One recent event was when she was caring for an elderly surgery patient who had severe chronic pain issues and who would verbalize discomfort with every nursing action. Yet every time the patient stated that something was causing her pain Serena would take the time to patiently and compassionately address the patient's issues.

Serena handles almost all of the pre-operative phone calls for our department. These calls include getting an in-depth medical and surgical history along with verifying all of the patient's current medications. It's like doing a patient admit with every phone call! This can be a very tedious and sometimes frustrating task. But each time Serena interviews a patient, the patient is treated with unending kindness. She puts the same care and consideration into each and every phone call.
