At about 2 AM I was awaiting surgery. My BP was extremely high and I already had an epidural in my back and IV pain medication but neither was effective. Amanda, who was watching over me during that shift, came in and had me roll over onto my side and began massaging my lower back. I had not truly rested that entire evening prior to Amanda taking it upon herself to personally start massaging my back for what seemed to be at least 30 minutes or so. I simply remember just how good that was feeling and how relaxed and comforting that made me! That morning prior to taking me to surgery prep, Amanda told me that the massage had brought my BP back down and I rested the rest of that morning. If not for what she did (what I feel was above and beyond her normal duties or care experience) my BP may not have gone down so that I would be able to have had my surgery as scheduled. This young lady was in my mind, my Angel. OSF should feel blessed to have her working for them!
