Charlene had just discharged a patient by transport to an extended care facility. An ICU nurse called Charlene to tell her that the patient's wife's (who was in ICU) condition had worsened and he needed to come see her immediately before she passed. Although Charlene knew it was a long shot to catch transport she took off to the ambulance bay all the way from the 5th floor. She saw them driving off and ran after them. Finally, she got them to stop. She explained the situation and got the patient back up to see his wife.
Charlene went above and beyond her call of duty. She is an extraordinary nurse and deserves recognition for her compassion for patients.
