STEWARDSHIP: Amy is always trying to better the hospital. In the year that I have been here, I have watched her head at least 3 projects. She is always trying to think of a better way to do things around the hospital and on her unit. Currently, Amy has taken on the unit competencies as a project. She has made it her goal to make sure everyone knows what the competencies are and help them get signed off in a timely manner. She has even created a board in the breakroom to help remind everyone and give them information on each competency.
GREAT PATIENT FOCUS: No matter what time of day it is; you can always expect a smile on her face. She is always kind and compassionate with her patients and she is constantly advocating for them. I have watched Amy walk into a room with a patient who is extremely agitated and somehow she manages to either calm the patient down or fix the problem. Today, another nurse's patient was downstairs for a procedure and started to complain of chest pain. Their nurse was in a meeting and she didn't want to interrupt her so Amy took it upon herself to go downstairs and evaluate the patient herself.
TEAMWORK: Working with Amy is always a joy. She is always one of the first to offer her help to her co-workers, even if the task is out of her scope of practice. Whenever she has caught up with all of her tasks, she is asking everyone else if she can help them with something. There have been several times that I have asked her about different subjects and she is always willing to teach me or find information for me.
Amy is a fantastic nurse and deserves the recognition for all of her hard work. It's not every day that you find a nurse with all of these qualities.
