A homeless patient presented herself to the Emergency Department after being kicked out of a homeless shelter that we helped placed her in after her last in-patient admission in our facility. Leigh worked diligently to find placement for this patient that would also take her pet cat to the nursing home. With much work, Leigh and her team found a nursing home that would allow her pet to come for a visit once a week. The team purchased a pet carrier and food to provide transportation to the nursing home with the patient. A much improved patient has been noted by the nursing home staff and expressed their appreciation to the SBL nurses who took this case and provided a new life for her.
