Josh's clinical skill and especially his compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model.
Josh shows tremendous compassion and care towards his patients. He always has a smile on his face while at work and is one of the best team players on the unit. He always steps up to help others out.
Josh is mentioned numerous times a week during nurse manager rounds and discharge calls. His patients always have glowing comments to say about him. One patient told me, "he is one of the nicest people I have ever met, he truly knew how to take care of me and my family and you can tell this was the career he was meant to have". Another patient once told me, "He is a rare person, I have never met anyone like him, he really makes me feel special, anything I needed he would run and get it for me, he made everything a priority and I knew I was safe while in his care".
I have personally seen him connect with multiple patients, whether it is sitting down and talking to a patient to show how much he cares, spending a little extra time with a patient's family to explain a procedure to them they may not fully understand, or showing an anxious patient a picture of his baby girl to calm her down. He is a perfect example of what a compassionate nurse looks like. We are extremely lucky to have a nurse like him taking care of our patients.
Josh is a role model for others on our unit. Many members of the team have recognized his kindhearted care and mention to me what a great job he does with his patients by explaining everything to them and going above and beyond for his patients.
