Our Nurse Leader, Jean Doerge, is our nursing role model who practices compassionate and exemplary care for all our Swedish Edmonds patients. Under her guidance, she has elevated the deliverance of patient care to a higher standard we at Edmonds can be proud of.
Jean has a depth of knowledge in all nursing areas from budget development and management, to developing best practices in all nursing units and improving nursing relations among the units and individual caregivers.
Kindness is a quality every leader should have, and she has it in abundance. She is thoughtful and reachable to any position within the organization. Jean is a role model in the leadership traits she possesses to staff, visitors, and anyone she encounters. She models a passionate commitment to the mission, values, and work, through self-understanding, authenticity, and spiritual grounding by inspiring others to bring forth their best.
Jean is a courageous decision-maker by engaging stakeholders to participate in decision making, encourages dialogue and dissent to uncover important truths with displaying consistency in keeping and supporting her decision. Jean has provided support in events where escalation was needed. She has been calm, fair, and reasonable. Jean puts in a minimum of 12-hour days and is on-call 24/7. Yet, in all of her business, she found time to mentor me during my first year and even past, she scheduled an hour with me every week!
There are so many words to describe Jean's leadership style:
Present - when you are discussing something with her, she is focused on you and truly listening to your concerns and ideas.
Creative - she is always thinking of ways she can provide support to nursing and all Caregivers at the Edmonds campus. She is willing to think outside the box.
Reliable - you can text, email, or call Jean at any time.
Trustworthy - you can confide in Jean and trust her with your concerns.
Mentor - Jean seeks out talents and gifts in people and develops them, making us better than when we met her.
Unwavering - Jean is relentless in her pursuit of Best Practice in Healthcare.
Faithful - Jean's moral and ethical high standards come through in everything she does.
I am a better, more fulfilled, and kinder person for having known her.
The PPC committee and Shared Leadership Council, is pleased to present to you the DAISY Nurse Leader Award and would like to say, Thank you!
