Nicole took care of a woman that came from a nursing home and was in pretty bad shape. She was a sick lady. Nicole started getting to know this lady and discovered that both she and the patient were avid book readers. The entire visit Nicole took the time to show compassion and talk to this lady. The lady thanked Nicole before she was sent back to the nursing home. Nicole told me that she just kept thinking about this lady because she had no family and therefore no visitors. Nicole went to visit this woman on her day off and spent 2 hours reading a book to her and just spending time with this patient. She visited her and has now bought her some audible books so that she can listen to books at the nursing home. This patient is a quadriplegic so this is perfect for her to have something to do. The fact that she went out of her way to bond with this patient is amazing and she deserves recognition. She is truly an exceptional person and a wonderful nurse. I think she has found a new love for her job and since this first incident, she has been happier than I have ever seen her. I am so proud that she feels like she made a difference because she gave this woman hope.
