Leann is a member of our DAISY Committee and so we had to make arrangements so that she would not be aware of what day and time we were presenting her with the award. We were able to have her family available and walked into her clinic to surprise her. Here is an excerpt from her nomination letter:

"The first time I met Leann I thought I was just going to talk to her about an excercise program that would help me lose weight. However, she was very observant to recognize I was experiencing symptoms related to heart problems...She was able to get me scheduled with a cardiologist that very afternoon. She stayed by my side until my husband arrived...I told my husband 'something serious must be wrong with me because that nurse stuck to me like glue, she wouldn't let me leave the hospital.' As it turned out, later that week I was sent for triple bypass surgery. I don't know for sure what would have eventually happened if I hadn't met Leann that day, but is is very possible I would have had a heart attack."
