As a day shift charge nurse, Amanda has started rounding on our patients with the intent of making sure they feel welcome, listened to, and well taken care of, demonstrating the core values of Stewardship, Excellence and Compassion. She takes the time each day to round on all of our patients and if she finds there is a need she takes it upon herself to fulfill it.
Amanda has also utilized this time to ask our patients whom they would like acknowledged for their excellent care and why, demonstrating Respect for her team members. She then reports this to the staff in an (what has become weekly) e-mail, quoting our patients loving remarks. This e-mail has become something we all look forward to (even the doctors). It's a time to set aside our caregiver fatigue and realize that we are cherished and we do make a difference.
Amanda demonstrates not only to our patients, but to our team, the core values of Providence that we should be striving to fulfill each day. She is a valued clinical expert on our team and encourages each of us to live out the Providence Mission in our daily practice.
