Susan's Manager wrote that that Susan is consistently one of the highest performers in the unit. Her level of knowledge and how she constantly works for growth & willingness to teach others. She always has a smile on her face and is such a positive presence it can change how others view their day. Susan's manager submitted a letter from a grateful family; here are some excerpts:

"We are writing to tell you what an amazing experience we had with our childbirth under the constant guidance of Nurse Susan Thompson. From the moment she said hello she put us as ease...but made it look like she wasn't trying to do so. She calmed us with her straight talking common-sense communication style. She explained everything that was happening & how and why; there were no meaningless comments to fill up space, just kind, thoughtful bits of information. It was like flying into space with an expert pilot who was completely certain about every facet of the journey and the destination. On top of that, Susan just knew (almost like reading our minds) when to come into the room and what to say at every turn. You know, like the amazing waiter at a 5-Star restaurant that always comes by at just the right moment... attentive but no overly so. Susan also had a quick wit and helped us enjoy our experience fully reducing our anxiety. I'm telling you, she was simply magical in how efficiently she performed her job, all while effortlessly making us feel like she had been a dear close friend for ten years.

You know, it really is some kind of country that we live in when two first-time parents can walk into a hospital, scared to death about everything that could go wrong, and end up in the care of a complete stranger who can do what Susan did, the way she did it. We will not forget Susan and the compassion & love she demonstrated toward us and our baby girl."
