I just witnessed one of the kindest things I've seen a co-worker do in some time. Jessica gave me report on a patient this evening who has a history of attempted suicide. Jessica shared with me his medical problems and also focused on his social issues. She told me that all his worldly belongings were in a hotel room somewhere in the Philadelphia area and he now was unable to retrieve them. This was causing the patient considerable additional stress on top of his already overwhelming situation.

So Jessica, after working an 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM shift, went to the hotel to get his belongings, and she came back after midnight with them all.

Now I have this patient until 07:00 AM and what an straightforward shift this is going to be, he is so so happy and so, so grateful to his nurse Jessica.

Jessica deserves the DAISY Award for this beautiful act of kindness.
