I just recently became aware of "The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses". Well, I would like to nominate Vikki Wagner. She works in the Gyn Oncology Unit at Miami Valley Hospital South. I have been fighting endometrial cancer and taking chemo for more than four years now. Vikki has administered chemo for most of that time. She is very professional and attentive to how I feel. She goes out of her way to make sure I am comfortable and meets all my needs. I don't complain much and a few weeks ago she noticed I wasn't feeling well. She came over to talk to me about it. She felt I needed to see the doctor and called them in. The doctor sent me to xray and then to the main hospital for a CT scan. This probably would not have happened if Vikki had not been on the ball. She even stayed after it was time for her to get off just to make sure everything was set up and okay.

Another time my husband left some reports and a prescription for me lying on the magazine table when we left. He called Vikki the next day when he discovered we did not have them. Vikki went back to check it out on her day off. The room had been cleaned and she did not find them so she contacted the doctor to replace them and sent them to us. She not only gives me this kind of attention, but she does it for all her patients.

Vikki always has a smile, seems to know when I need a hug and would do anything I ask.

I think Vikki Wagner is certainly an extraordinary nurse!
