My nurse Deanna is worthy of volumes, but I will try to do her justice in a short note. I have been dealing with Stage 4 breast cancer for over a year with every kind of health care professional. I can tell you from experience Deanna is one of the best.
Specifically, I had a procedure that removed six liters of fluid from my abdomen on a day when my husband could not be with me. I was scared! Deanna delayed her lunch plans and juggled a work assignment so she could stay with me! I was in so much pain and so scared. Deanna not only held my hand throughout the procedure but also made eye contact and kept telling me to just keep looking at her. These things are above and beyond. She was not needed by the doctor, but she stayed because she knew I was scared.
