Today was the 1st day that Kinzi was my nurse. Last night was a little difficult because I had a hard time sleeping. I finally fell asleep at around 5 am. I was awakened gently by Kinzi. I woke up a little disoriented as this was my first night in a new room. As I opened my eyes I saw her smiling and softly introduced herself. When being awakened at a hospital when I'm exceptionally tired, it sets my mood quickly. By Kinzi being soft and kind, I woke up with a smile. She did her debrief and patient handover with another nurse. At that point, she smiled and said she would be back. She tracked pain medication and administered it at the ordered interval. After the MD saw me, she promptly administered all care ordered. She and I began to talk a little later and I told her my pain was getting worse and I was having a hard time handling it. She reassured me which at this point the pain was deeply affecting me continually. In a gesture that touched me very deeply and made me emotional, Kinzi made me a bracelet that said, "Your Positivity and Kindness are Inspiring." That was such a kind gesture. It actually changed the direction of my mood and really cheered me up. I am quite proud to wear it and show it off. However, around 5:15 pm, the pain became so bad it made me cry. It was the worst I have experienced. Again Kinzi promptly brought me pain medication. It was her care and support that helped me through. In my opinion, Kinzi should be held as an example of what a nurse's leadership, compassion, empathy, and love of fellow people are.

Kinzi has been the most polite, kind, and efficient person that I have come to know. She is very knowledgeable, takes pride in her job, and does it very, very well. The hospital is lucky to have her and could use a bunch more like her!
